The course was designed by Jones and renowned course architect Alister MacKenzie. From the beginning, the course was designed to challenge even the most talented players in the world, with undulating greens, strategically placed bunkers, and rolling fairways that demand skill and precision right from the initial tee shot until the final putt on the 18th green.
Since its inception, the Masters Tournament has been a magnet for the world’s top golfers. It’s the only major championship that’s held at the same location every year, and the course is as much a part of the tournament as the players themselves. Over the years, the tournament has seen some of the sport’s most memorable moments, from Jack Nicklaus’ famous win in 1986 to Tiger Woods’ historic victory in 1997.

The reigning Masters champion is the only person permitted to remove a green jacket from the club’s grounds.
